While most people associate southern California with hot summers, we think fall is the perfect time to visit. With fair weather, fewer crowds and great deals, fall is a wonderful time to make memories at the beach, mountains, and local attractions. We’ve put together a list of  the top three reasons why fall is the perfect time to head to Southern California for your next vacation.

1. Smaller Crowds

With school in session and summer ending, there are far less crowds and traffic. With fewer travelers in the area and crowds it is much easier to snag tickets to different fall events, take a stroll on the beach, go up to the mountains for a beautiful drive, or visit an incredible restaurant.  It is a wonderful time to visit as those places are usually packed. With school in session – crowds are smaller!

2. Weather is Mild

The weather is perfect with overnight lows near the coast in the mid-60s and daytime highs in the mid-80s. Mountain temperatures can be a bit cooler in with daytime highs ranging up to the mid-70s and evening lows reaching the low-50s.

3. Awesome Events and Attractions

Whether you want a family-friendly festival or a heart-stopping haunted tour, there are countless options from San Diego up to Los Angeles in the fall. If you are ready for a truly hair-raising experience, check out the Queen Mary Dark Harbor experience in Long Beach, CA. Or visit some of the best apple picking locations in SoCal from Riley’s Los Rios Ranch in Yucaipa, Volcan Valley Apple Farm in Julian, and Willowbrook Apple Farm in Oak Glen. Are you an avid surfer? Fall is typically a great time to get out in the water with big, orderly south swells combining with Santa Ana winds to produce beautiful offshore waves and barrels.
