Money-Conscious Moving Tips

Moving is stressful, and the money you spend to get where you’re going can add up fast. Moving can be particularly difficult if you know that you have to move a lot of things. Here are four tips to make sure your stuff gets moved as efficiently as possible and hassle free.

1.Declutter Your Space and Get Rid of Excess Items

Go through your items and get rid of thing’s that are not wanted prior to moving. The more things you have to move, the more expensive it is with a movie company. If not donating unwanted items, you can hold a garage sale, or list the items on Facebook Market, Offer Up, or even the friendly neighborhood app, Nextdoor.

2.Don’t Overbuy for Your New Home

When thinking about spending money on your new space, consider what you will need immediately and what is necessary. It’s common to be more impulsive with spending in the short-term because you might start to visualize what you think you need in each room. The less you buy now, the more you will save getting your thing’s to your new home.

3.Decide If You Should Spend Money on Movers

Recruiting either friends or movers is always one of the most significant decisions you will make when moving on a budget. While you may be quick to bribe your friends with pizza and beer, it’s sometimes better to call the professionals.

4.Don’t move during the busy season

While this may be out of your control, try to avoid moving during the peak season (May through September). Not only are off-season rates lower, but you will have an easier time scheduling the move.
