Did you know 1 in 5 children in Orange County are hungry every day? It’s true! In fact, 35% of those being fed by the Orange County Food Bank are children. Working with nearly 400 local charities, soup kitchens and community organizations, the OC Food Bank fights to end hunger and malnutrition. Seven Gables Real Estate has joined the fight by launching Seven Gives; a company-wide food drive initiative aimed at serving our neighbors who need a helping hand.

Seven Gables Real Estate’s Director of Operations, Diane van de Goes, emphasizes the company’s commitment to the communities it serves. “When action meets compassion, lives change. Seven Gables recognized a need and took action by reaching out to all of our local communities in Orange County to help collect non-perishable food for our neighbors in need. Our Realtors are pounding the pavement, picking up bags of food directly from homeowners, and all of our eight offices throughout Orange County are collection sites. No one should go hungry.”

The Orange County Food Bank warehouse is 58,000 square feet, with commercial refrigerators and freezers capable of handling 20 truckloads of perishable food. At the warehouse, volunteers receive and package about 26,000 boxes of food each month, for distribution to 50 sites across the county. The Food Bank provides donated food, USDA goods, and purchased food to non-profit agencies in Orange County that serve low-income families and individuals. Annually, the OC Food Bank is able to distribute more than 20 million pounds of food.

In Orange County, there are nearly 456,000 people at risk of hunger every month and for many it is a hidden problem. Join the fight! To learn more about The OC Food Bank, visit ocfoodbank.org.
